What You Need to Know About Your GAF Roof Warranty

An important aspect of selecting your new asphalt shingle roof, is the coverage offered by the manufacturer warranties. But, not all warranty coverage is the same. As a GAF certified contractor, we are pleased to offer the System Plus Limited Warranty to our customers who install a GAF Roofing System.   

This warranty is a step above the basic by extending the coverage period. The GAF System Plus Limited Warranty provides homeowners with a worry-free and foolproof roofing system that lasts a lifetime. What makes the GAF System Plus Limited Warranty such a great deal?

Material Warranties and Installation Coverage

GAF is the leading manufacturer of quality roofing materials in the USA. All GAF shingles undergo a thorough inspection and are extensively tested by trained experts. While this minimizes the chances of material defects to an admirably low percentage, defects in your asphalt shingles can occasionally occur.

When you install any GAF Lifetime Shingle product and at least three qualifying GAF accessories, you automatically receive a lifetime limited warranty on your shingles and all qualifying GAF accessories and non-prorated coverage for the first 10 years. Our most popular Lifetime Shingle (and the #1 selling shingle in America) is the Timberline HD asphalt shingle.

Because Northland Home Exteriors is a GAF certifed contractor, the Smart Choice Protection Period is extended from 10 years to 50 years of coverage for 100% of material defects on your roofing materials and tear-off is included (when necessary).

This warranty will cover 100% of installation labor costs for the lifetime of the roof. Note: With 3-Tab shingles, material defects are covered for 20 years and 25-30 years for labor costs. The System Plus Warranty also includes tear-off costs if the original issue was a material defect.

Registering your System Plus Limited Warranty

Your warranty will require registration, but we will take care of that. You should receive a copy of your warranty and registration within 60 days after the installation is complete. If you have not received your copy within that time frame, please give us a call at 651-464-0234.

Filing Your Warranty Claim is Simple and Easy

The easiest way to open a claim is by sending an email to warrantyclaims@gaf.com. You will need to provide proof of the date you purchased your GAF products (our contract is sufficient) and show that you were the homeowner at the time of installation. You may also call GAF at 1-800-458-1860 or visit their website at GAF.com/contact for more information.

Just make sure to file for the warranty within 30 days after you spot an issue with the roofing system. If you need any help with the process, do not hesitate to contact us.

Transferring Your Warranty at Time of Sale

The easiest way to transfer your GAF Warranty is by sending an email to ccp@gaf.com clearly stating your name, your address, and the date you purchased the property. GAF might request a copy of your deed or other documentary proof of the date the property changed hands.
